History

     Slingshot Ministries, Inc. began in April of 2010.  A handful of like minded men anchored in eastern Oklahoma County at the time, each with our unique passions and gifting, came together, committed to serve as catalysts to collect and direct financial resources that would be distributed in the advancement of the cause of building into the spiritual maturity in the lives of men.  Of course, churches have their programs, and that’s great; these men dedicated themselves to be independent ambassadors — extensions of what the local churches were doing — in the lives of the men in their spheres of influence Monday through Saturday.  As is the case in most endeavors - vision is cast, vision is captured and the adventure ensues.

     At the time of our inception, we waded into the waters of forming a board, providing initial funds to at least begin ministering, and making decisions on how to distribute those funds as fulfillment of our ministry objectives.  We initiated the process we had set out to accomplish.

     Over the course of these past 15 years, it seems we have experienced all of the seasons in the life of the men we set out to serve.  Preparation.  Sowing.  Harvesting.  Quiescence (big word, right?) — Defined by Webster’s 1828 as rest; repose; state of a thing without motion.  We too, are men living life, just like the guys we endeavored to engage — managing our professional responsibilities; changes of address; changing dynamics of life [the passing of loved ones; caring for elderly family members’ end of life days; enduring personal and family health challenges]; in general, Life!  And Slingshot Ministries continued to exist.  These days, we’re out of “quiescence”, focused on whatever we can do to “awaken men to dealing with the complex realities of life.”
